PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ink from leaking from an ink supply port at a side of an ink supply unit even when the number of times of connections between an ink supply port at a side of a recording head unit and the ink supply port at the side of the ink supply unit. SOLUTION: This ink supply device 40 comprises the ink supply unit 44 which is provided corresponding to the recording head unit 24 having a sub-ink tank 28 storing ink to be supplied to a recording head 26 and has the ink supply port 58 for supplying the ink to the sub-ink tank 28, a displacement mechanism 140, 150, 158 for displacing the ink supply unit 44 between a non-supply position and a supply position with respect to the corresponding sub-ink tank 28, and means 60, 74 that determine a relative position between the ink supply unit 44 and the ink tank 28 when the ink supply unit 44 is placed on the supply position.
