PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-accurate, high-speed and small-sized displacement encoder having low power consumption and little heat generation, operable in a low voltage, and capable of stabilizing a signal intensity by being equipped with a filter circuit capable of setting optionally a cut-off frequency, even if characteristic dispersion caused in a manufacturing process of a semiconductor occurs. SOLUTION: This displacement encoder is equipped with a signal source, a modulator, a detector, a reference signal computing unit for generating a reference signal showing a detector output, and a signal intensity controller for controlling the signal intensity of the signal source and a gain of the detector so that the reference signal has a prescribed value. The displacement encoder is also equipped with a filter for applying filter processing to the detection output by a mutual conductance-variable operation mutual conductance amplifier and a capacitor.
