<p>A method for fitting a thrust shaft (2) to the end of a tubular section (1) has triangular braces (3) set radially around a central bore into which the shaft is fitted, either as a push fit or threaded fit (13). The shaft is provided with at least one cross bore (4) and/or flats (5) for tool grip. The fitting can be enhanced by sealing compound, securing nuts and seam welds (6) to provide a heavy duty thrust connection using a range of material strength for the shafts. The completed fitting can be further secured and protected by a zinc coating process.</p> |
