PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for creating a color separation lookup table capable of efficiently creating gray lines of the color separation lookup table with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A flowchart of creating gray lines includes: a step S1300 of preparing basic gray line data; a step S1301 of creating image data of a chart; a step S1302 of printing the created image data of the chart with a color image output device, and applying colorimetric processing to the printed chart and capturing the result; a step S1303 of setting a desired hue to the gray line, and generating a gray line target on the basis of the setting value and white data of paper and black point data of the captured colorimetric data; a step S1304 of deciding an L*a*b* value obtained by the colorimetry for obtaining the gray line target by each grid and using C, M, Y and K values corresponding to the decided value for the gray line data of the grid; and a step S1305 of merging the gray line data into the color separation 3D lookup table.
