PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively eliminate or reduce an odor remaining in a rice cooker in a short time by feeding hot steam into a pot in the rice cooker which keeps the opening of the pot being heated by a pot heating means covered by a lid, and which has a steam port communicating the pot with the outside air. SOLUTION: The pot 2 is heated by the pot heating means 4, and the opening of the pot 2 is covered by the lid 3. The pot 2 and the outside air are communicated by the steam port 13, and steam is fed by a steam generating means 8 into the pot 2. At the same time, steam which is generated by the steam generating means 8 is heated by a steam heating means 16. This rice cooker has a course for generating steam by the steam generating means 8 so that the odor adhered to the pot 2, the lid 3 and the steam port 13 can be eliminated or reduced.
