Allocating subchannels within frequency transmission band for data transmission, arranging subchannels so that their frequency bandwidths do not overlap

A number of subchannels are determined within a frequency transmission band each subchannel having a set frequency bandwidth. The subchannels are arranged regarding their frequency position so that the frequency bandwidths of respective subchannels do not overlap. A minimal frequency bandwidth is maintained between frequency boundaries of respective neighboring subchannels so that only a minimal required frequency bandwidth of the frequency transmission band is occupied. An independent claim is also included for the application of the subchannel allocation method to the data transmission over the cable line.
