An ink cartridge (10) comprises an ink tank (12), the ink tank (12) comprising a first chamber (34), the cartridge (10) including an air vent (16) and an ink supply outlet (14) both opening into the first chamber (34) the cartridge (10) further including means (33) defining a volume in which air and ink can collect to form a buffer against expansion or contraction of ink and air in the first chamber (34) to prevent leakage from the cartridge (10).
