PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headrest apparatus for a vehicle, by which a headrest is allowed to instantaneously get close to the head of an occupant when a vehicle is collided, while having a simple structure to be easily fitted to different seat backs. SOLUTION: When the vehicle is collided, an unlock mechanism detects a collision from the rear part of the vehicle and unlocks a lock mechanism 14. A headrest body 3A is instantaneously moved from a stationary position to an upper front part with respect to a headrest base body 3B by the energizing force of a leaf spring 11.
