PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and inexpensive nucleic acid-extracting apparatus designed to surely extract the desired nucleic acid. SOLUTION: The nucleic acid-extracting apparatus is equipped with a vessel 1 for reacting cells, a reagent feeding part 3 for feeding a reagent to the vessel, a nucleic acid-extracting part for extracting the nucleic acid from the vessel and a controlling part for controlling the extraction treatment. The apparatus is further provided with a reciprocating apparatus 6 for reciprocating the vessel in a plane and a detecting part 5 for detecting reaction conditions in the vessel. The reciprocating apparatus is composed of one table and two actuators and provided with guides without complementarily interfering operation in the horizontal plane. The detecting part is composed of a CCD (a charge-coupled device) and an image of the CCD is fed back to the controlling part to control the alignment of the nucleic acid.
