<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the reproducing terminal of an architecture defined in MPEG-4 to correctly reproduce object-based coded content described in MP4 or a similar file format. <P>SOLUTION: A method of processing the object-based coded content data is provided. In this data processing method, the content data having the MP4 file format are analyzed, object description information for describing the relative correspondence of an object is acquired, and media data specified by the object description data and attribute data thereof are acquired (step S2).
