<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decide the optimum distortion compensation data in which the non-linear distortion of an amplifier becomes the minimum. <P>SOLUTION: In a method and an apparatus of compensating non-linear distortion, non-linear distortion is given by signal processing of a quadrature baseband signal to be inputted and distortion compensation data, a modulation signal amplified by an amplifier having non-linear input/output characteristics is transmitted, distortion component power of the valid outband component of the modulation signal is detected, a change in distortion component power is monitored while changing the distortion compensation data, and the distortion compensation data in which the distortion component power becomes the minimum are selected to compensate the non-linear distortion of the amplifier. When the difference in power of distortion component power corresponding to the distortion compensation data before and after the change becomes equal to or lower than a predetermined value, input power (backoff) to the amplifier is controlled so that the difference in power may increase, and distortion compensation data in which the distortion component power becomes the minimum is searched again. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
