<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that properly prevents a rush current from flowing to peripheral equipment. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 is characterized in that, in a power unit 11 exclusive to peripheral equipment such as a finisher, the peripheral equipment is provided with a resistance connected to the output terminal of the power unit in series and a switch element connected to the resistance in parallel and the switch element is turned OFF when the peripheral equipment 10 begins to be actuated to supply electric power through the resistance and then turned ON a specified time later. A rush current is prevented from flowing from the power unit 11 for the peripheral equipment to the peripheral equipment 10 at the start of power supply to eliminate overcurrent detection of the power unit 11 and an output voltage drop of the power source and malfunction of the image forming apparatus 1 are thus prevented to realize stable operations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
