PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a minute light source discharging between a pair of electrode to emit light and having excellent light emitting performance. SOLUTION: A minute light source 10 has an electrode unit 24, a cathode chip 14, and an insulating spacer member 16. The electrode unit 24 has a cylindrical electrode 22 and an insulating tube 20 covering the side face of the electrode 22, and an end face orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the electrode 22 is formed. The cathode chip 14 is disposed facing the end face of the unit 24 and shaped in a ring. The member 16 is disposed between the unit 24 and the chip 14. In this light source 10, a through-hole 14a of the electrode 22 and the chip 14 are disposed in almost coaxially.
