PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out loading irrespective of whether or not a medium to be loaded is a cartridge or a bare disk, and also to inhibit scratch and staining from occurring on the recording and reproducing surface of the bare disk or the disk housed in the cartridge by this loading. SOLUTION: The optical disk device is provided with: a loading and unloading port 12 in which both of the bare disk 2 and the cartridge 3 can be loaded/unloaded; a disk holding member 4 for holding the bare disk 2 on its outer face 21; and a cartridge holding and conveying member 5 for holding the cartridge 3 and conveying the cartridge 3 between the loading and unloading port 12 and a loading position 13. Moreover, the disk holding member 4 is arranged inside the cartridge holding and conveying member 5.
