TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel construction method for economically constructing a shield tunnel without adversely affecting a living environment in a peripheral area. SOLUTION: According to the tunnel constructing method, an annular pilot outer hull lining structure 2 including a thrust transfer body 8 which can be excavated, on a side portion thereof is constructed in the ground. Then under conditions where the natural ground 9 is left inside the pilot outer hull lining structure 2, the thrust transfer body 8 is cut and at the same time a shield tunnel 3 for a bifurcating portion or a confluent portion that crosses the side portion of the pilot outer hull lining structure 2 is formed.
