<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretcher capable of reducing the number of directions for use by further enhancing the safety, reducing the burden on a care-taker, and relieving the anxiety from a care-receiver. <P>SOLUTION: This stretcher 2 comprises a frame with wheels, horizontally extending guide rails 9 mounted above the frame, and a stretcher to move in the axial direction of the guide rails 9 mounted on the frame. The stretcher 2 is to be disposed beside a bathing device. The stretcher has a lock mechanism 12 for selecting at least one direction of movement of the stretcher disposed to be movable in both directions on the guide rails 9 and restraining the movement. When the stretcher is placed beside the bathing device, the lock mechanism 12 restrains the movement of the stretcher in the other direction opposite from the direction beside the bathing device.
