<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a license plate capable of illuminating by uniformly and efficiently emitting light from a light guide plate and improving illumination efficiency while securing sharp visibility without reflection, inflection, or diffusion by forming irregular face. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for the license plate is equipped with the license plate 1, the light guide plate 2 disposed so as to oppose to the front side of the license plate 1, and a light source 3 allowing the light enter the light guide plate 2 from the end face.
