PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time series signal coder which codes a large amount of music data time series signals using a little work memory, and compresses signal flat parts without loading a coding process. SOLUTION: The coder decides on a coding mode (S20) after reading a sample (S10), proceeds to S100 or S30, if it is a run length mode or a linear prediction coding mode, respectively, processes in a loop of S10, S20, S100, S110 and S80 in the run length mode, if the sample is a signal flat part, or processes in a loop of S10-S80 in the linear prediction coding mode, if the read sample is not the signal flat part.
