PURPOSE: A method for controlling an outer loop power in a communication system is provided to group sectors if the number of the sectors is more than the number of supportable sectors, and to check quality of receiving signals of each group, then to use the checked results for power controlling, thereby efficiently controlling power. CONSTITUTION: When the number of sectors comprised in base stations(20,30,40) is more than the number of supportable sectors, the sectors are grouped. The base stations(20,30,40) perform error detection processes of identical receiving signals received in the sectors according to each group, and transmit detected results to a BSC(10). The BSC(10) receiving the detected results decides whether the sectors are good or bad. The BSC(10) determines a power control threshold value in order to maintain a destination frame error rate according to decided results, and transmits the determined value to the base stations(20,30,40). |
