<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus improving operability by enabling the back-and-forth movement, rotation or installing angle change of an automatic document feeder of an image forming apparatus or of the platen of the automatic document feeder on which a document is placed. <P>SOLUTION: The operability is improved by enabling the back-and-forth movement, rotation or installing angle change of the automatic document feeder 2 of the image forming apparatus 1 or of the platen 3 of the automatic document feeder on which a document is placed. Further, if the feeder 2 or the platen 3 has moved from the predetermined position, an image forming operation is prohibited and erroneous copy due to disconnection can be prevented.
