<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small polarization state measuring device capable of precisely measuring polarizing state of input signal light, even if it is an optical system in which a plurality of light-receiving elements are arranged closely. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization state measuring device branches an input signal light L<SB>IN</SB>to 4 signal lights with photocouplers 1A to 1C in a 3-stage constitution, gives different polarized light and phase difference to each signal light with a plurality of optical elements being arranged on each branch path P<SB>1</SB>to P<SB>4</SB>, detects each signal light power with corresponding light-receiving elements 4<SB>1</SB>to 4<SB>4</SB>and measures the polarization state of the input signal light L<SB>IN</SB>by calculating stokes parameters from the detection results. Each element is arranged with an inclination so as not to form an interference system between neighboring elements on the same branch light path, and a shielding wall 5 is provided so that the stray light generated between elements does not reach the light-receiving element on another branched light path. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
