PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system wherein a faulty peripheral apparatus can be removed and a peripheral apparatus to be newly connected can be inserted, without stopping the system while continuing an operation. SOLUTION: In a data processing system which uses a central processing unit and an input/output bus to communicate with each peripheral circuit which doesn't have a special circuit configuration for plug and play, a bus switch comprising a MOS switch is provided between the input/output bus and a peripheral apparatus, and the system itself performing a continuous operation controls the bus switch connecting the input/output bus and the peripheral apparatus to remove or insert the peripheral apparatus when the peripheral apparatus is removed or inserted. Thus plug and play of the peripheral circuit which doesn't have a special circuit configuration for plug and play is possible. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
