PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current reduction gear which assists the frictional brake of a vehicle and to particularly improve the braking performance of the eddy current reduction gear using an electromagnet. SOLUTION: The eddy current reduction gear includes a braking drum 6 which is mounted on a rotary shaft 1 to generate the eddy current, and the electromagnet 8 attached to a fixed side oppositely to the braking drum 6. The electromagnet 8 has a cylindrical core 9 attached to the fixed side and formed concentrically with the rotary shaft 1, an electromagnetic coil group 11 having a plurality of electromagnetic coils 10 aligned axially or radially of the rotary shaft 1 in the core 9, and an annular pole member 12 attached to the core 9 so that the electromagnetic coil group 11 is axially held at the rotary shaft 1 and mounted to be opposed to the braking drum 6.
