Safety switch protected from physical contact by preventing movement of contact arm from disconnection position when fuse insert is removed

The safety switch (10) has a pair of terminal contacts (22,24) within a switch housing (20) having a reception shaft (28) for a fuse insert (40) fitted with a safety fuse (60), the fuse insert secured in its operative position via a spring-loaded catch (140) and contacted by a contact arm (80), which is spring biased into the disconnection position. The contact arm and the catch are interlinked, to prevent movement of the contact arm into its operating position when the catch is in the locking position with the fuse insert removed.
