PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for mounting a shift lever in which a knob body part can be easily changed, and mounting screws to mount the knob body part on a lever part are not exposed outside. SOLUTION: A fitting part 12 with a lever part 5 inserted therein is formed in a knob body part 9 of a shift lever 1, and the fitting part 12 and the lever part 5 are integrally fixed with each other by mounting screws 4 and 4'. A first cover member 13 covers the upper mounting 4, and is fixed to the knob body part 9 above and below the upper mounting screw 4. A second cover member 14 covers the lower mounting screw 4' and is fixed to the first cover member 13 and the knob body part 9 above and below the lower mounting screw 4'.
