<p>1,008,823. Stripping waste from moulded articles. OWENS ILLINOIS Inc. July 30, 1963 [July 30, 1962], No. 30073/63. Heading B5A. In an apparatus for removing waste from moulded plastic articles the moulded articles are removed from the moulding machine by means of a take-out device as described in Specification 1,008,822, to a stripping station when gripper plates 70, arched so as to closely underlie the take-out device 30, are closed together to grip the depending waste by means of the downward movement of a piston and cylinder 86, 92 acting upon scissor-like members 85, which are fixed to the plates 70, and are pivoted about pins 67, 75. The gripping heads heads of plates 70 have passages 82 for the passage of cooling fluid therethrough to ensure a clean tear, said gripping plates being mounted in a trunnion block 63 which is mounted for movement about a trunnion 60 at one end, the other end being attached about a pivot pin 94 to a piston and cylinder assembly 95 96 fixed to the main machine frame so that as the piston 95 is retracted the trunnion block 63 and consequently gripper plates 70 gripping the depending waste material are moved downwardly arcuately thus stripping the waste material from the moulded article and depositing it into a shoot 103 movable with the trunnion block 63, the piston then being moved out of the cylinder to complete the cycle.
