The invention relates to the generation of random binary or number sequences. According to the invention, the sequence is produced from a fingerprint sensor (10) and an analog-to-digital converter (14). The random binary sequence is produced from lower bits from the converter (which has a sufficiently fine resolution for the noise level of the signal from the sensor to randomly toggle the lower bit).
