PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unnecessary intervention of a driver into the preceding vehicle following traveling control. SOLUTION: In the preceding vehicle following control, inter-vehicle distance control is carried out at a previously set vehicle speed (set vehicle speed) or lower such that an inter-vehicle distance with the preceding vehicle becomes a target inter-vehicle distance when it travels following the preceding vehicle and vehicle speed control is carried out such that the vehicle speed becomes a set vehicle speed when the preceding vehicle does not exist on the lane.
