<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover styrene in high purity even from waste polystyrene containing volatile substances. <P>SOLUTION: A waste polystyrene mixture containing a volatile substance having a boiling point close to that of styrene such as xylene is supplied to a separator 1 composed of an extruder 1a, the waste polystyrene is melted, the volatile substance is evaporated with heat, the vapor of the volatile substance is discharged through a vent part 13 to a line (a), the remaining molten waste polystyrene is supplied to a thermal cracking apparatus 4 and the thermally cracked material formed by the thermal cracking apparatus 4 is purified with the 1st distillation apparatus 7 and the 2nd distillation apparatus 8 to recover styrene having high purity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
