<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device in which rise of temperature in a device is suppressed, while deterioration of a condensed spot property can be suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: An optical pickup device 20 has a light source 21 emitting at least light, an objective lens 24 condensing light emitted from the light source 21 on an information recording surface through a light transmission protecting layer 23, and a case 26 housing a light receiving element 25 receiving reflected light reflected by an optical recording medium 22, or the like. An air intake opening 28 is formed at one side plane 27 in the case 26 of the optical pickup device 20, an air intake fan 29 taking air outside the case into the case at a part at which the air intake opening of the case 26 is formed, further, and a filter 30 is provided at the case outside space side of the air intake fan 29.
