<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for tracing an article history, and the like, by which information mistransmission and falsification of data can be prevented to trace the data in a short time and accurate information transmission from producers to the final consumers can be carried out. <P>SOLUTION: A first tag 41 describing information including the production history of the article is applied to an article 11 and the information described in the first tag is read each time the article is dressed. Second tags 42 describing the production history of the article by the number of the dressed individuals are produced and applied to each article. The information including the production history cannot be read from the first tag. In the process, the first tag is an ear tag applied to cattle. The second tags can be used as dressed carcass tags applied to each of the carcasses when the cattle is dressed into the two carcasses. When the carcasses 12 are dressed into 27 pieces of partial meat 13 or even when the partial meat is dressed into pieces of dressed meat 14, the production history can be transmitted in the same procedures.
