<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely correct density irregularities in a horizontal scanning direction different by image densities, by means of an exposure amount correction of an exposure device. <P>SOLUTION: When carrying out density irregularities correction processing, a control circuit 210 makes an image forming part 100 output a pattern for density irregularities detection which is composed of a plurality of regions different in the image density Cin. The outputted pattern is read by an image reading device 280 and converted to density data by the control circuit 210. The control circuit 210 calculates an exposure correction amount curve for each image density Cin from this density data, and further develops the exposure correction amount curve to the whole tone region.
