PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively improving the yield of feedstock/ash for a papermaking machine while reducing chemical cost. SOLUTION: The method comprises the following practice: A high-yield cationized starch 0.30-0.36 wt.% in nitrogen content and 400-600 cps in viscosity at 50°C and a concentration of 1.5 wt.% is added together with a flocculant to a feedstock to effectively improve the yield of the feedstock/ash owing to the coagulative effect of the high-yield cationized starch.
