The method involves finding a format and thickness of a postal object (10) in a weighing plate (36), to predict the design of a postal impression. The object is transferred from the plate towards a printing module (44). A distance (D) between the plate and module is equal to the impression length. A destination address is printed on the object. The object weight is found, and the impression is designed and printed on the object. An independent claim is also included for a postage-franking machine having a postal object printing module at the output of a differential weighing module.
