PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a resin in which transesterification of a polyphosphonate resin is improved much and by which a resin superior in optical characteristics can be obtained. SOLUTION: This is a method of manufacturing a resin which has a phosphonic acid residue and a carbonate residue and which is obtained by melt-polymerization from an ester compound producible the phosphonic acid residue, an ester compound producible the carbonate residue, and a compound producible a dihydric phenol residue, and the method is characterised by satisfying the following formulae (1) to (3). 1≥(a)/ä(a)+(b)}≥0.05 (1), 1.01<ä(c)+(d)}/(e)≤1.50 (2), (d)/(e)≥0.01 (3), here, (a) is the number of moles of the phosphonic acid residue; (b) is the number of moles of the carbonate residue; (c) is the number of moles of the ester compound producible the phosphonic acid residue; (d) is the number of moles of the ester compound producible the carbonate residue; (e) is the number of moles of a dihydric phenol, respectively.
