PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for an endoscope which executes an image processing more appropriately by inhibiting the image processing and performing an annunciation or the like when the size of an invalid region exceeds an appropriate range. SOLUTION: Signals imaged by the CCD 30 of an electronic endoscope 2 are processed in a video signal processing block 4 inside a video processor 6, then the luminance value of image signals inside an attentional region set by an attentional region setting circuit 63 of an IHb processing block 44 of an image processing block 5 is detected in a luminance detection circuit and compared with a threshold in an invalid region detection circuit 68, and whether or not it is the invalid region is judged. Further, by the result of judging whether or not the size is equal to or less than a prescribed threshold, a CPU 56 inhibits the image processing and performs reporting, and the image processing is executed in a more appropriate state.
