<p>Gasification of solid carbonaceous material with an oxygen-containing gas in a fluidized bed with liquid slag discharge comprises contacting the bottoms product from the main fluidized bed (3) with more gas in a subsidiary fluidized bed (4) above a slag bed (6) to gasify residual carbonaceous material at a temperature above the ash melting point. An independent claim is also included for a fluidized-bed gasifier with liquid slag discharge comprising a first gas injection nozzle system (8) beneath a second gas injection nozzle system (12) for fluidizing the main bed, and a chamber of uniform cross-section between the first and second gas injection nozzle systems, the volume of the chamber being 1/10 to 1/3 times that of the main bed.</p> |
