The windscreen wiper mechanism has at least one wiper arm (7) fitted with a wiper blade at one end and provided with an orthogonal wiper axis (9) at the opposite end (13), driven by a wiper motor mounted on a wiper plate (5) via a reciprocating rod and a rotatable reception sleeve (3) for the wiper axis, in which the latter is blocked against relative rotation by an interlocking device (15).
