PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium that has excellent smoothness, excellent electromagnetic transducing characteristics, and superior productivity, and is nearly free from disorder at the time of web conveyance in a manufacturing process and the dropout of a magnetic layer. SOLUTION: On a nonmagnetic support, a radiation cured layer and a magnetic layer are formed in this order. In the radiation curing layer, a layer containing a radiation curing compound is cured by the irradiation of radiation. The magnetic layer contains ferromagnetic powder and a bonding agent. As the radiation curing compound, an epoxy ester acrylate compound having a benzene ring, a heterocyclic, or cyclohexane ring structure or the epoxy ester methacrylate compound is used.
