<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a support from a recording material, wherein a coating film is formed on the support using a natural or synthetic polymer binder, in a state usable as a raw material of the support for the recording material. <P>SOLUTION: A chip-like recording material wherein at least one coating film is provided on the polyester resin support, is treated with an alkaline treatment liquid in a treatment tank using a stirrer and, after the polyester resin support is separated, it is recovered through treatment using an acidic treatment liquid.
