PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punch press with which a tool supporting body for supporting a punching tool is accurately joined to the press frame even when using a simple guide mechanism and is firmly supported with high rigidity with respect to punching motion. SOLUTION: This press is provided with the tool supporting body 3 on which the punching tool 1 is mountable, the press frame 5 and an elevating/lowering mechanism 22. The press frame 5 has the frame main body 5a and an ascending/descending member 49 which is provided freely ascendably and descendably between an elevated standby position to this frame main body 5a and lowered position where press working is possible by being joined with the press frame 5 and with which the tool supporting body 3 is supported freely attachably and detachably. The elevating/lowering mechanism 22 has an ascending/descending guiding means 44, an ascending/descending driving means 56 and an engagement means 92 of the ascending/descending member. The engagement means 92 of the ascending/descending member is a means for controlling the position in the horizontal direction of the ascending/descending member 40 in the lowered position. The engagement means 92 of the ascending/descending member is composed of coupling parts 92a, 92b which are respectively provided on the ascending/descending member 40 and the frame main body 5a and engaged with each other.
