<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of integrating information from peripheral viewing and information from center viewing and suitable for a humanoid system. <P>SOLUTION: A real-time object detection and recognition device comprises pairs of cameras 32L, 34L (32R, 34R) provided with almost aligned optical axes to capture a series of images by low resolution and high resolution, tracking devices 42, 44, 60-78 for detecting an object in an image of low resolution and moving the pairs of cameras 32L, 34L (32R, 34R) so that the detected object is held on a previously determined position and an object recognition device 46 for recognizing an object existing on the center of an image of high resolution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
