Control module for controlling a motor vehicle ventilation and or air-conditioning unit (3a, 3b) for controlling the air content within the vehicle interior (2). The module is connected to sensors (S0, S0') for sensing the quality and or constituents of exterior air and at least three sensors (S1, S2, S3) for detecting levels of carbon monoxide and or hydrogen, nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbons. A processor unit evaluates the sensor signals and applies an algorithm to enable determination of the interior air composition without the influence of exterior air.
