PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel of which luminance and efficiency can be improved by improving the composition of a discharge gas. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises a rear plate and a front plate which are arranged mutually opposed to each other and a discharge gas filled in the discharge space, here, the discharge gas is a three component mixed gas of neon gas, xenon gas, and krypton gas, with the ratio of krypton gas component being 14-44%. By using the three component mixed gas of neon gas, xenon gas, and krypton gas as the discharge gas, the orange color visible light generated from the neon gas at the time of discharge is reduced and color purity is improved. Also, since the ultraviolet ray generated from the krypton gas at the time of discharge are not self-absorbed and reaches the phosphor layer even if the amount of the krypton gas increases, efficiency of the panel and luminous efficiency are improved. Furthermore, since the overall mass of the discharge gas becomes larger than the conventional one, and the kinetic energy of the gas particles decreases, the sputtering ratio applied on the protection layer is reduced and thereby, lifetime of the panel is prolonged.
