NOVEL FLUORINE COMPOUND AND FLUOROPOLYMER

A fluoropolymer which is excellent in mechanical strength and transparency, has a high glass transition temperature which makes the polymer suitable for high-temperature use, and has a high refractive index. Also provided is a novel compound represented by the following formula (1). The fluoropolymer comprises monomer units (2) formed by the polymerization of the compound. In the formulae, R<AF>, R<BF>, R<CF>, and R<DF> each independently is fluorine, chlorine, a perfluorinated monovalent saturated hydrocarbon group, or perfluorinated (partially chlorinated, monovalent saturated hydrocarbon) group, provided that at least one of R<AF>, R<BF>, R<CF>, and R<DF> is perfluorinated (partially chlorinated, monovalent saturated hydrocarbon) group.
