The method involves applying a tool (3) on a non-planar transparent surface (4) to be polished with constant pressure in one direction with a fractional surface coverage being greater than 75 percent. The tool is contained in a robot (1) and is applied on the surface at an angle of about pi /2. Circumference of the surface is coated by a non-abrasive material before application of the tool.
