It is intended to provide a bacterium belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium which shows a survival ratio even after storing under agitation and enables the production of fermented foods containing a large amount of viable cells; and fermented foods being rich in viable cells, having the bacterium belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium and showing favorable physiological effects of regulating harmful strains in the intestine, improving intestinal disorders and the like. A bacterium belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium which shows a survival ratio of at least 30% after culturing in a medium containing milk as the major component until the viable count attains 1x108 cfu/mL or above and then storing at 10°C under agitation for 14 days; and fermented foods using the same.
