Component comprises a platinum-aluminum substrate region having a substrate surface and a substrate composition, and a substrate region formed in the region of the substrate surface of the component by diffusing platinum and aluminum into the substrate surfaces. The amount of aluminum and/or platinum in the substrate region is less than 18 wt.%. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Process for the production of the component; and (2) Platinum-aluminum coating used for the above component.
