PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make distinction whether the stapling position of a middle-stapled, folded booklet is identical to the folding position thereof automatically without resorting to human labor using a low-cost constitution. SOLUTION: A transport part 210 transporting the booklet so that its edges on the stapling side and the folding side become the leading edge is provided, needle abutting parts 220a and 220b including a pair of contact shoes 221a and 221b arranged confronting staples for the booklet, a contact shoe position coordinating part 230 for placing the shoes 221a and 221b identical to the staple position, and an inter-shoe electric continuity judging part 240 to sense whether electric continuity exists between the shoes when the leading edge of the booklet abuts to the shoes 221a and 221b are provided.
