PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device, an image forming device, an image reading device, and a copying machine capable of adjusting simply the deflecting amount of a sheet at a resisting means. SOLUTION: Each sheet is allowed to have a sufficient deflection before a resist roller 46 starts rotating by increasing the time from a paper sheet sensor 55 sensing the leading edge of the sheet till the start of the resist roller 46 rotating in case the force acting on the sheet from the resist roller 46 varies to cause the sheet deflecting amount to decrease owing to a deterioration with time of the outside diameter of transport rollers 43-45.
